Sunderland

I visited the restaurant with my hungry swim team from Dumfries - 22 swimmers all ready to consume their own body-weight in chicken. I had contacted the management team earlier in the week to book out half the tables and offered to provide a pre-order to minimise kitchen hassles. We were greeted with gusto as we stepped in, shown to our half of the restaurant and treated like family - Preston had the kitchen dancing a special tune and the meals were brought quickly to the tables.

The lady greeting is was great and took allergy very seriously. Also the lad who took payment personally sorted out my food and took allergy very seriously. I was very impressed who professional the staff where and a credit to the site. Thank you very much

Hi there just wanted to say the service was excellent especially from Phoenix I think was her name. She went above and beyond for our table very friendly and helpful making lots of conversation, and went above to get the table extra rainbow slaw! She deserves some recognition!!

Strange setup, ignored by staff until we had sat down even though as we walked in 3 were at the bar. We had sat down, as well as found our own menus, for near 5 minutes before we were greeted. After having the menu explained, being our first time we proceeded to order.
There was an issue with the drinks machine which was not fixed until 2 other people after myself mentioned it (the syrup had run out).

Nando’s 93 was all the way back up North in Sunderland. Being a Saturday afternoon in December, I expected the city centre to be heaving, but when we arrived by car at about 4PM, we stepped in to what can only be described as a windy ghost town. The Nando’s is less than a minute’s walk from the multistorey car park, a giant illuminated Comic Sans sign pointing the way past the cinema and Frankie & Benny’s.

The final North East Nando's to visit, and Sunderland took the title.

A mammoth journey from London to Sunderland came to a close once we found this standard city-centre Nando's in a busy area with a cinema, lots of bars and other restaurants nearby. Some key local knowledge helped us get free parking in the multi-story car park just up the road after validating our parking ticket in Nando's. Otherwise it was 90p an hour if my memory serves me right.

Having driven almost 5 hours the arrival at Sunderland Nando's was a welcomed relief. There was a bit of a queue to get in but that was all because the grand master was working on getting us a table for 10. Unfortunately this was not possible due to a real communication breakdown and the booth that should've been our was given away. Anyway we split up into groups and began the feast.

This store located on the edge of the town centre takes up 2 store fronts but has a number of businesses that have gone under surrounding it. It is quite a small store and is only on one level though there is a large enough space for a mezzanine storey but this has been used for a large wooden arch reminiscent of a railway arch. The toilets are at the back and to the right, the service area is to the left and there is a number of booths along the right.

Arrived at this branch around 7:45pm on a Wednesday night - and it was packed! It's located on Sunniside Leisure complex and also houses a Tenpin and an Empire with other restaurants too, so seems like the place to go in Sunderland!

After 6pm (or maybe it was 5:30pm), parking at Sunniside multi-storey was only 50p per hour, so really great value.
