York - City Centre - Gerry Louis Review
I had to delay reviewing this branch so that mine and Elliott's reviews weren't subconsciously the same and I've sort of forgotten everything.
We got here after a visit and stroll around York Uni and a drink in one of the local pubs, just before six pm. From the outside, table 2 in the window was visibly free so I got myself a stick and showed myself to the table after some bants with the host Nandoca. He said I've clearly done all this before, and I also asked him about the 'Reserved Table' sign which was on view which they apparently use for groups of 8 or more.
No line to get served, quarter chicken m &l with peri chips, garlic bread and a chocolate gelado for the final Nando's of the day, and it arrived in about 12 minutes, hot and saucy. Decent portion of both chicken and chips, with plenty of peri salt. The garlic bread was pretty good, a really large roll. The gelado was brought over and unfortunately I didn't like it so happened to swap and have the Vanilla one which tasted better in my opinion.
It's quite small downstairs, and a little squishy but there is more room to manoeuvre upstairs as well as a second counter. Unfortunately there is only one grilling station so food is traversed around the restaurant. Minimal decoration in this branch, but it is right opposite a church which is plenty of viewing pleasure. 8 Nando's this weekend and 5 were sat near a window, it's great viewing watching the world go by.
The toilets are also upstairs, clean, not too much fuss.
So good food, nice friendly staff you can have a joke with, clean and standard Nando's waiting time for food.
