Darling, I came in for a quick bite and left having had a full spiritual experience. Nando’s chicken livers arrive in their little Moroccan-print bowl like a diva who knows she doesn’t need to try hard — spiced, glossy, completely sure of herself. The buttered roll, split open and glistening, is frankly the most willing supporting actress in London. Together? Iconic. The kind of duo that should have their own Netflix series.
I paired mine with a glass of red because I have standards, even on a Tuesday. Was I alone at that table? Technically. Did I feel alone? Not for a single, saucy moment.
But the real garnish on this evening? Darren. The manager. Who pulled up a chair — metaphorically speaking — and delivered the kind of warm, genuinely funny conversation that you simply cannot put on a menu. After a long day on the line, wrists aching, feet staging a quiet protest, a human being who actually sees you is worth more than any loyalty card. Darren, you are the PERi-PERi of people: unexpected heat, completely addictive, and you’ve ruined me for ordinary interactions.
Five stars. For the livers. For the roll. For the red. And for Darren — who understood the assignment without being asked.
