Southgate - Ryan Review
Finally caught up with Marc after a few years and despite me being rather late... we had some lovely chicken together! :-D And Arsenal won 5-0 so I am sure he was fine about it...
This Nando's is found almost next to Southgate underground station. There is (poorly signposted) parking found at Minchenden car park priced very reasonably at £1/1hr, £2/3hrs, £3/5hrs and £5/24hrs - these prices are charged Mon-Sat from 7:30-18:30. Most street parking during this time is permit only, but then outside of these times you can park anywhere in Southgate for free.
This Nando's is on the corner of the street so has a lovely big curved frontage with lots of full length windows. Inside it is spread over two floors. You first enter to a little hall area where you can go straight upstairs, round to the right to a large seated waiting area or into the restaurant downstairs. It's not the biggest Nando's and has around 30 tables spread across the two floors. Upstairs there are a few larger booths and the (male) toilets are up here too with its own till point as well. There are lots of smaller canvas paintings on all of the walls both downstairs and up. There are colourful red hanging lightshades across both floors. Lots of colour and lighting throughout - a nice new Nando's.
Once I got there and ordered the food came in just under 15 minutes. I went for the full platter and it did not disappoint. The chicken portion size was a good size and it was cooked to perfection - hot, moist, white meat throughout, smothered in sauce. The chip portion was an average size - all chips hot and crispy. The rice, veg and supergrain sides were all also average size and were all cooked just fine.
Staff were busy and doing everything as expected.
