Romford - Gerry Louis Review
The first time I came to this branch it was closed due to technical issues the same day I went to Hornchurch. Such a long journey and I couldn't even go to another Nandos that day as it was dark and cold. This time I was in luck, the branch was open the only problem was the lift not working and taking me to the wrong floor so I had to get the stairs in the end.
Got to the branch just about two o'clock and was greeted straight away by a real small guy that I didn't even notice til he spoke. He wouldn't give me the table I wanted but I got one close to the window in the front section of the branch and it was very cold. No queue to order, the girl let me use my green reward so I got a free 1/4 chicken mango and lime, sweet mash, garlic bread and a vanilla Gelado.
Long journey so I went to use the loo which is upstairs and behind the mezzanine floor. Only one working toilet which was boarded up like a derelict house and a sign saying to use the disabled toilet downstairs. Very inconvenient so I'm lucky there was no queue but I would be annoyed if I had to return downstairs. The mezzanine had about 12-14 tables mostly for couples, four booths along the back wall, another till area and cutlery station so at least they supply those for the upstairs patrons when it gets busy. It's a vey colourful branch too which also incorporates the loos.
Only a 5 minute wait for the food and I got a very small leg piece of chicken, warm garlic bread that was a little hard and minimal mash, only enough to cover two garlic bread slices. The vanilla gelado was amazing tho. The chicken was well cooked and it had enough sauce on but just not enough meat. And no one came over to ask if my meal was okay.. They didn't seem to collect anyone's stick actually they only came over to collect plates before people left the tables. That's why they don't get a five for friendliness..
It's a nice branch. Plenty of spacing around tables, seats outside but it was very cold on the inside and will be colder on the outside. Good layout and a row of tables running to the back of the restaurant by the till and grill area. A lot of decorations and a really huge Barcelos on the wall made with elastic bands in a lime green colour to look at.
