I was absolutely stunned when on holiday in Chicago last month to see a Nando's - and a Google search showed that there were quite a few in the city! Only went to a couple of branches (the first branch, on East Ontario St, doesn't appear to be listed on RYN yet...)

You can tell that most locals don't know about Nando's. I popped here on Saturday evening on the way to the Bulls-Pacers NBA game and it was pretty quiet. It's in a very central location, with easy access to several Subway lines within the 'Loop' area, not far from the river and about a 10 minute walk from the Art Institute. Macy's and other shops very close by too. This branch shares its exterior and entry with another fast food outlet (I can't quite remember what it was); it's glass fronted but the interior is all the usual Nando's decor. Tills located deep inside the restaurant, which is always a good thing - especially in the Windy City - and I was served pretty quickly.

Grabbed a wrap and peri chips to takeaway and waited for my order in the copious amounts of bar-like seating opposite the kitchen. A Nandoca on her break came up and started chatting to me - safe to say it's a very American thing, don't get such friendliness in London! Food came in about 10-15 minutes and the wrap was excellent; plenty of chicken (more so than in England) and sauce. Chips were ok.

I'll probably never go to a quieter Nando's on a Saturday night but it was a pretty good visit - uncomplicated and tasty, all I can ask for!
