St Albans - Ryan Review
Arrived here at about 1pm on a Sunday - and the town centre was bustling with an outdoor market and a stage closing Peters Road. I've found out since if I had hung around for another 4 hours, I would have seen Gareth Gates... oh well - life is full of missed opportunities.... lol
Anyway, if you head towards sign-posts for The Maltings shopping centre, you'll be parked just a couple minutes walk away and pay a reasonable price for parking. On a Sunday it is a £1 flat rate fee - Monday-Saturday £1.40/1hr, £2.40/2hrs, £3.20/3hrs and upwards from there.
This Nando's is just off the High Street, so you are right by the Clock Tower and Cathedral and then less than a mile walk away from Verulamium Park and Verulamium Museum. St Albans train station is also half a mile walk away.
This Nando's is over two floors with more seating being located upstairs along with the toilets. There's certainly a better and busier atmosphere upstairs along with better decor as well - and plenty of seating in the huge windows up there. There are more booths up there as well.
The branch was about 3/4 full at this time, so no wait for a table or to order and the food came in 8 minutes - and was to a very high standard. As with Southwark Arches the day before, this was another very generous portion of chicken - piping hot and moist throughout, with a nice bit of charring on the outside and smothered in sauce. The chips were hot and crispy and the rice was also hot and moist and in abundance.
Staff were also pleasantly chatty - infact while I was waiting for the food to come I had two members of staff just come and start chatting to me, which was nice and welcoming.
