Sheikh Zayed - James RYN Review
Quite the contrast from the Nando's at the Dubai Mall just down the road, this branch is on a busy main road and seems to cater more to local workers and those living nearby. Decor is a definite 2/5 with nothing much of note, though the restaurant was very clean so no complaints there.
Attentive staff were very polite and took my order at the table as is the usual in UAE, though payment has now moved to scanning a QR code on the table which was very convenient when I left.
As for the food, the menu has got some new items since I visited last year, and I was tempted to try a couple of them. Firstly a pesto burger which sounded delicious, but in practice was not very good. This is because the pesto really clashed with Extra Hot sauce and probably needed to just be plain to be properly enjoyed. It was very well prepared though, so no fault to the chef. And secondly some wedges tossed in a very (perhaps too) generous helping of oil, garlic, and parsley. The garlic was quite overwhelming and after a couple I had to stop, and I am still smelling of garlic many hours later - perhaps one to skip unless you are going to be alone for a long time after your meal!
