Despite the Nando's app advising this Nando's is closed for a makeover, it most definitely is open (and has been from July 2013 from what I can tell) - which was news to my ears as I was in need of some chicken and chips to recover from the 50K run around Newcatsle Racecourse I had just done!

It's located within the Qube/Yellow Mall of the Metro Centre, so has its own designated parking, but really you can park in any of the coloured car parks (surface and multi-storey) and you have a short walk from wherever you park. The parking is free and there are thousands and thousands of spaces. In the Matro Centre is an Odeon cinema, a Namco Funscape bowling alley/bar/dodgems/arcade and just about any shop or restaurant you can think of. It has its own train station too. The most attractive thing about the Qube at the moment was the 20ft (or higher) Xmassy reindeer that's in place. Very cool!

As with a lot of shopping centre Nando's, it's very open plan and also the front is completely open to the shopping centre (I.e. no glass like the one in the Blue Mall). There is a row of plants keeping a little privacy for those at the front though. There is a good mix of seating - several booths down the right hand wall and the odd circular booth dotted around. The decor is nice as well - the main points being the large copper-clad pillar in the middle and the ceiling having two very large circular wooden cone inset into it with multiple orbs dangling down from it. The walls are also clad in wooden slats with the right wall (where the booths are) having multiple large canvas paintings on it too.

Arrived at this Nando's at about 4pm and it was starting to really fill up, with only a few tables spare. The food came in just under 20 minutes and the staff were pleasant enough but it was filled with kids and they were just cleaning up after the mess that was made, so couldn't do anymore than the minimum.

The food was nice as well. The chicken was certainly one of the spicier I have had (it still needed Extra Extra Hot sauce, but i could at least taste the spice in it) and it was cooked to perfection. Caked in sauce and hot and moist throughout and a very good sized portion too. The only downside was the chips were a bit soggy and a rather small portion - but the rice was hot and moist and a big portion. Overall, a very tasty meal indeed.
