Leigh - Ryan Review
This Nando's is located on the The Loom leisure park which is also home to a Cineworld and other eateries such as Frankie & Benny's and The Real China buffet. The complex is anchored by a big Tesco as well. As there is no train station in Leigh, you'll need to get to this by car, but you can stay for free (up to four hours) in one of hundreds of spaces. Also, head for post code WN7 4PE if using sat nav.
From the outside (especially at night) you are greeted with a big illuminated Nando's sign and Barci, before going inside to a wonderfully decorated restaurant. As soon as you enter you see dozens of decorative plates/wicker bowls on one of the walls, dozens of multi-coloured lampshades hagning down - and then a long multi-coloured canopy running across the restaurant, with the bench/booth seating upholstery being the same patterns/colours as the canopy. Your eyes are then caught by clusters of smaller light bulbs with red casing making it nice and bright. And if that wasn't enough, if you go all the way outside to the back - if the weather is right you can sit down on the Liverpool/Leeds canal to eat your chicken! The toilets were also brightly tiled with orange/red/yellow tiles and a couple of old metal buckets for sinks added a nice touch. Top marks for decor.
Arrived here at about 8pm and it was maybe half full so no wait to order and the food came in just under 10 minutes. The chicken was well marinaded, but both my mate's and my chicken was burnt quite a bit. I had to take all of the skin off the wing as it was so badly burnt it was completely black - so it also meant the rest of the chicken was a little dry. The portion of chips and rice were both big portions. The chips were hot and crispy and the rice was hot and moist. Such a shame about the chicken, probably averages out to a 2.5 as it was quite burnt...
Staff did everything that was expected - pleasant enough, but doing the minimum.
