This Nando's is in the new Skelton Lake Services, off J45 of the M1 - so as with all Services, you get a couple of hours free parking. These services are nestled in between Skelton Country Park and Temple Newsam. The walk to Temple Newsam is about 1.5 miles and the circular walk of Skelton Lake is also 1.5 miles - and you can walk further along the Aire and Calder Canal if you fancy. Nice on a sunny day :)

Being inside a Services, it's a little small and there's a limited amount that can be done to the decor, but they've not done a bad job of this at all. A faux-vaulted effect has been created and the ceiling and walls are clad in lots of little wooden slats. The till and serving area are clad in bright ruby tiles. There are some booths at the back against the wall which has the bright canvas paintings on. Lampshades are glass orbs to make it as bright as possible, seeing as there aren't any windows... Toilets are the main Services ones.

Arrived here just after 12 on a Sunday, so it was very quiet and the staff were all pleasant annd observing the new COVID guidelines. Being quiet, it meant the food came in just under 5 minutes.

I went for half chicken, chips and rice. The chips and rice were a good sized portion and both were piping hot. The chicken - although smothered in marinade on the outside, was rather disappointing. There wasn't much meat on it... the breast piece was quite lean and not at all plump. There was little meat on the leg/wing as well - and all the meat was rather dry.

Nice to be back at Nando's for the second time since lockdown though! :)
