Comments - Stand out in our monthly competition! What did you eat? Unique aspects? Parking/transport tips?:
This Nando's in located on the high street in Hornchurch, with both Emerson Park rail station and Horncurch tube station less than half a mile walk away. Parking was also a breeze and well sign-posted off the high street. We parked in Darrington Gardens, where parking is only charged between 7am-6pm and is only 20p for 2 hours during those times! This is then only a few minutes walk from the branch.
As you go into the branch, the till is right in front of you. To your right in the full length windows (which can be opened up) are about 10 sets of tables/chairs seating. Towards the back right are more booths and bench style seating, seating about another 15 sets of parties. In this back right section, one of the walls is painted completely orange and the other is wood-panelled. Dotted on the walls in the tables/chairs seating are a few large canvas paintings. The lighting was a little odd. There are a few wicker cone lampshades above the window seating and then just ceiling spotlights throughout the rest of the building, but only a fraction of these were on. Not sure if this was mean to be mood lighting but it was pretty dark. Upstairs to the toilets also had very limited lights on and was very dark - with the toilets themselves being a little shabby - a sink was missing and so a couple of large holes were in the work surface and the only working tap was a tiny cold trickle. I think overall, this averages to a 2 as it does need a bit of a revamp.
We arrived around 8 o'clock and even though it's a small branch, there were only a few tables in use. No wait to queue for food either and we were advised it would take 10-15 minutes for the food to come. Sadly this ended up being nearly 35 minutes, which was odd as there just weren't many customers. The staff also did the minimum.
Even though there was a wait for the food... it was worth waiting for! It was delicious. Two hot and moist pieces of chicken absolutely sopping in sauce, hot crispy chips and hot moist rice. It was truly delicious, and only doesn't get a 5 as my mate wanted luso benas and they didn't have any.
