Harrogate - Gerry Louis Review
I had said to Elliott "what if it's crap?" About ten minutes before we got there.. Think I jinxed it.
Got to Harrogate about half ten, another hour before the Nando's was due to open so we hung out at the local library for about forty minutes. Passing Betty's the famous tea and cake place and right next to Jamie's Kitchen is the new Nando's in Harrogate freshly hatched. Got there at 11.32 but it still wasn't open, with three other couples waiting outside the branch, not a good start to be honest. They finally opened the door at 11.35 but that was the start of a fiasco.
Got a booth by the window in this brand new branch, comfy seats of course as they are brand new and clean tables all round. Had to avoid a frozen yoghurt spillage despite no one having ordered any yet and went to the till. Two amazing points straight off is the Legend of Nando's on the wall inside a golden pinned Barcelos, the second is the Legend of Barcelos sign on the wall seen as a reflection of letters pinned into the wall. Adam took my order very slowly and was very helpful, but the rest if the staff during the course were very robotic and insincere with their queries.
The food took 25 minutes to arrive, bearing in mind it had just opened and we were the second to order for our table. Everyone guest in there had sat waiting, looking around at staff who were walking around but not serving the food that was sat at the counter. When my food finally arrived, there was the slightest sprinkling of peri salt, I wasn't sure whether it was there or not, the chips were also warm but the garlic bread and chicken were okay.
Not one of the worst, but not one of the best considering they have only just opened, if they stay on track like this it won't be getting any high reviews. The artwork in there was incredible and the lights and lamp shades, and lighting fixtures all great! Above our head was a large mosaic of a man walking down the street with a clear blue sky that looked amazing. Above the table next to us was a really nice lighting fixture made of a few black hanging bulbs squished together, pictures to follow.
The toilets were okay but down one of the longest spiral staircases I've ever walked down, and only two toilets. I had worried about the disabled person but that was upstairs and around the back. It was okay, not great.
