Glasshouse Street - Ryan Review
Had just been to see the Bond In Motion exhibition in Covent Garden, so felt like a proper nerd and decided to take it down a nerdy notch by judging some chicken... at least that's how I interpreted it...
This Nando's is a leisurely stroll from Covent Garden and so just a few minutes walk from Piccadilly Circus tube stop. As you approach walking up Glasshouse Street, you see the Nando's awning - which actually hides most of the single shop front. As you get to it, you get to see the nice red lights in the window and as you step inside, you see the wall running down the side of the staircase nice and brightly decorated along with a full length shelving unit with various sculptures. There are some tables up at the entrance and outside, but not much to see...
Downstairs behind the staircase are a few large sets of seats but through a small archway to get to the main seating area. Not the biggest, but a reasonable selection of tables/chairs and booths, with a good amount of decoration on the walls. Very plain lighting though - just lots of spotlights... and sadly, bloody roasting making it a bit uncomfortable... which I think dried the food out.
The food came scarily quick, just over a minute, but it must have been sitting on the side for a while as the chicken - which had clearly been cooked right to the bone - was very dry and the chips had gone a bit cold. An average size portion all round too.
Staff were pleasant enough and doing as expected.
