A leaving party for my business partner could only be held in one place: Edgware Nando's, a.k.a. the place where it all began.
This Nando's has recently garnered a reputation for being a distinctly average branch, and I have to say that tonight was no exception.
Decoration and the locale need no further description, so I'll get right onto the food and service. I ordered with the manager who accepted my order of a double wrap, with one breast Extra Hot and one Mango & Lime. When my wrap arrived it was filled with two Extra Hot breasts instead. When I pointed this out to the waitress she said 'No. Is not possible to do two sauces.' I pointed her to the receipt which showed I had requested two sauces AND had my order approved by the manager. She of course then obliged and got me my original order - however, I should definitely not have been challenged. I can perhaps understand this challenge if the wrap was a single, since it is not the Nando's norm to mix sauces on a single breast piece. However, the order was a double, so each breast piece could have a specific sauce added to it very easily.
As for the food itself, the chips were pretty good, probably a 4/5, though the chicken in the wrap was quite burnt on one side which made it difficult to eat. It also didn't help that the extra Mango & Lime sauce had more or less been dumped on top, so it wasn't well cooked into (and mixed with) the chicken. Overall quite disappointing, but saved from a 2/5 by the decent chips and rice.
I will of course be visiting this branch again since it is one of my two locals (Enfield being the other - another branch with mixed results), but as always, I wish they would up their game!
