First Nando's in a new country is always an exciting time, but unforunately my first UAE Nando's was rather disappointing!

As mentioned by Marc is previous UAE reviews, there is full table service here, which is fine in theory, but doesn't feel quite like the true Nando's experience. At first the waiter was very friendly and attentive, but then as can happen back in the UK, he seemed to lose interest after we had been served our food. We had to beckon him over for the bill, which then also seemed to take an overly long time to sort out. I wished we could have just paid at the till!

All this would have been forgiven were the food excellent (as was generally the case in Australia), but I have to say I was rather disappointed. I ordered a double wrap with halloumi, but there definitely weren't two chicken breasts. I actually queried it with the waiter, but he insisted it was double. I might have been okay had my wife not had a single wrap, which had exactly the same amount of chicken in it. On top of this, the halloumi in the wrap had not been grilled much at all, and was leaking water out the bottom, and the Extra Hot sauce was not plentiful or particularly spicy. On the plus side, the chips were good, and the peri-salt was more like in South Africa than the UK (a bit redder, slightly different flavour).

Also worth mentioning is the price of Nando's here: the most expensive I have ever seen! More than the UK and even Australia.

Of course I'll be going to more Nando's in the UAE, but this first impression wasn't great. Hopefully better next time!
