Canary Wharf - Jubilee Place - Marc Joss Review
Shockingly I had never made it to this reasonably local London Nando's until the weekend after my birthday on a Nandventure with Saskia. The staff were brilliant although there was one unexpected display of loyalty to Wagamamas which will be discussed later.
It's hard for the décor to be above a 3 when there's no music, the inside part of the restaurant is excessively dark and there are hardly any walls to line in typical South African artwork given the location of the Nando's, which is the case here! The African pottery lining the middle part of the seating area was the highlight of the décor for me.
The speed of service was perfect. Our starter beat me to the table (possibly because I failed in my mission to get tap water at the first water dispenser but hey) and the mains arrived just as we chomped down on the final piece of pitta bread with houmous and wild herb sauce, try it if you haven't! The food was somewhat disappointing however. Nowhere near enough sauce for my liking and parts of the chicken were on the dry side.
Having said that, I still prefer this Nando's to the Cabot Place restaurant thanks to the exceptional staff and blistering speed of service. However, this visit will always be remembered for the one where I saw a Nando's member of staff (possibly a manager) consume a meal from local competitors Wagamama inside Nando's! Shock horror!
All in all, I'm glad I've ticked this one off and am looking forward to the next Nandventure!
