Camden - Ryan Review
Last Nando's of the day took me on another walk towards my hotel and I ended up in Chalk Farm for the Camden Nando's.
Firstly, the smell in the area was awful. I don't know if the chickens were being killed onsite, but along Chalk Farm Road was a horrid smell, made worse by the heat.
Anyway, this Nando's is nearer Chalk Farm tube stop, but Camden Town is not much further away, on the Northern Line. Morrisons is a short walk over the road and round a bend, so you can probably get free or cheap parking there, but you'd have to check!
Getting to this Nando's I was surprised to see seating outside (because of the smell), but also because of the busy road... but seeing the inside of Nando's - there's not a whole lot on offer either!
There's a rather plain section upstairs, towards the back of this small restaurant. Magnolia paint... but not much else. There's certainly a bit more of a restaurant feel downstairs/at the front... but because it's so small it's all rather tight with mainly tables/chairs/bench seating. There are some breakfast bar seating/stools looking out into the Morrisons petrol station too...
The only feature of this Nando's is a see-through big circular hole looking to the upstairs from downstairs which is surrounded in empty peri-peri bottles. Overall it's very dull... even the toilets - some nice curved black sinks which were probably sparkling when they first went in - but were stained with white scum...
The food came in only three minutes and this time it was a half chicken and chips. The chicken was cooked beautifully, but it was a very lean bit of half chicken. I may as well have had two drumsticks the breast piece was so lean. I did ask the girl who came to check on me whether I had definitely been given a 'proper' half chicken but I don't think she understood the question (or my accent)... Chips were pretty soggy and barely warm - so a bit of a mixed bag this one...
Staff doing as expected.
