Camberwell - Marc Joss Review
Camberwell Nando's had only ever received one review in the first 3 years of RYN so I took advantage of a free Saturday afternoon to see if the service was as bad as when Damien went. Luckily it wasn't, more to follow.
The branch is a 7/8 minute walk from Denmark Hill National Rail which is only 10 minutes from Blackfriars. A Nando's board declaring 'Man eating chicken' caught my eye as I trundled down the road on a peaceful autumn afternoon. This could only mean one thing: imminent feeding of Nando's addiction!
The décor is rather interesting here. The branch feels spaced out and there's a large entrance area for take-aways and Nandoers waiting for a table. Tills are on the left with seating on the right which is nestled into a circular shaped building with cutlery, sauce and drinks counter in the centre of the aforementioned circular structure. Interestingly enough, above the drinks counter lie 3 rather impressive trophies which logically caught my eye. It turns out the Camberwell Nando's 5 a side team is pretty awesome since they are regional champions.
I placed my order with a lovely Italian Nandoca and the only minor problem was that both my free 1/4 chicken and the one I paid for were put through as legs. To be fair I didn't specify but logic states that not many people would want 2 legs rather than one of each. As a rule of thumb, always specify as you cannot assume the order will go through as you want otherwise.
The food arrived within 10 minutes and it was great. The only criticism is it could have been spicier!
All in all, a lovely visit and it's a shame we couldn't sit outside. Maybe next time!
