Balham - Damien Review
Balham Nando's was the 36th to open in the UK, and we combined our visit with the RYN team, who spoke to the branch manager while the rest of us took our seats.
Probably mostly due to this, the service was exceptionally good, with the staff ()especially the aforementioned manager) going above and beyond the call of duty to make sure our Nando's experience was a positive one.
Most of us were given the equivalent of a staff discount, and there were free soft drinks all round!
Sadly, the food itself was less than excellent, with the halal chicken breasts being a bit dry and chewy, and the legs seeming slightly undercooked. Gladly, I'd used a card to redeem this whole chicken, so couldn't complain too much, but it was overall below the standards I've come to expect from the average Nando's.
While the manager did her best to keep us sweet(even bringing us some badges, and showing us the ingredients lists when asked), it seemed like some of the other customers were being neglected, with crowd of 5 or 6 people left un-greeted at the door while we were being served.
The restaurant and decoration itself could do with a bit of work, but at least the toilets weren't a million miles away, and I really can't fault the enthusiasm of the manager or her staff.
Overall a good visit, just lacking that vital spice.
