Wakefield - Gerry Louis Review
Sitting in this branch I can see why it's in the top ten, and what other branches need to do to get to their level.
Fifteen minute walk from Wakefield Westgate station, Elliott and I were their second guests of the morning. Friendly greeting from Evije? Who showed us to our table and looked after us during the course of the meal. Really beautiful girl behind the counter ready to take our order was all smiles and made ordering easy. The sauce station is right opposite the till so it was order, turn around collect utensils, then round to table five in the window as you enter the branch.
Above the grill area is a five tier shelf of rows and rows of bottle sauces, that look absolutely amazing. I think this is my first time seeing that. Not sure if it counts as artwork but it's definitely worth seeing. Opposite this is the Legend of Barcelos written around an imprinted shape of Barcelos. Again this is something quite unique which makes this branch really outstanding.
Quarter chicken m&l with garlic bread and peri chips arrived 8 minutes after ordering and oh my God they are generous with the peri salt. I don't think I've ever had to say that there was too much peri salt on my chips before, but this will probably be the only time. The chips were hot, fresh and tasted great. The chicken despite being a halal branch was a huge leg portion, smothered in sauce, and very tasty, succulent. The garlic bread again was a large portion, no burnt bits and again was hot. The meal was one of the best ever and I had 5 already this weekend so it was the best of them all.
They only got a low score for delivery because the one person who ordered before me did a double order but otherwise it would have been five out of five. The place was clean, the staff were nice and friendly, toilet check had no problems, decorations were truly unique and it's very easy to get to. I hope they keep up the good work.
