This was a quick fire Nando's just before half the team had to catch the rather expensive Gatwick Express for his flight back to Madrid and luckily, the branch wasn't too busy on this fine Sunday evening, a queue to be seated would have meant no Nando's.
A good friend from university finally made it to Nando's with me (she promised me such an event would transpire around 8 months ago) and even though GoogleMaps on my Blackberry (don't trust it) did its best to divert us in the wrong direction, we found this branch surrounded by designer clothes shops and other eateries. We were offered a choice of table and were pleased to see the queue to order was very short even though the branch was almost full.
As I was in a rush, I thought I'd choose a less time consuming chicken option which meant butterfly breast not half a chicken (you may know what it's like waiting for me to finish off every last morsel of chicken of the bone). Having heard rave reviews about the garlic bread, particularly from extra hot reviewer Adam Nicol, I went for a single peri chips and garlic bread for the first time. Food arrived within 10 minutes and I must say I was happy with the chips portion, the whole plate was covered in food rather than them putting a stingy portion of chips in one of those tiny bowls, good work Victoria Cardinal Place Nando's!
The butterfly breast was tasty and covered in sauce although the eternal problem of paying more for less chicken reminded me why this selection is only made in special circumstances. The food still gets a 3.5 due to the generous chips portion and there was nothing wrong with my order but as I didn't get my favourite thing, I am unable to talk about it that favourably as I inevitably compare it to the best of Nando's in my eyes: half a chicken and large peri chips.
This branch is a good one overall and has a very European feel to it with French and Spanish employees!
