After a over night coach trip and a morning bumming round London I was in need of Nandos and Marc had suggested a visit to Croydon, not being from London I had no idea how far out Croydon is till I started to head there. An hour later after a long tube ride and a tram ride I arrived in the suburb of Croydon with my mate. The Nandos is on the main stretch under a cinema and as seem to be the trend at the moment had a queue heading to the door. However the chirpy welcomer put our name on the list and we were shortly seated as they had a good turn over. Having learnt from prior experiences I declined the first offer of a table as it was by the door and the queue much to the concern of my mate who thought we should take it. However his fears of standing for hours were unmaterialised as the Welcomer took us to our new table quite quick. I went up and ordered our meal using a free whole chicken loyalty card, the server did attempt to tell me I couldn't get another stamp whilst redeeming the full card, I correctly pointed out you could and he smiled and complied :D
The food was quite fast and the chip portion size was plentiful and generous much to our delight. The bread rolls were spot on and warm as well. The chicken would have been fine other than the wings were burnt on the breast so bringing it down overall. I then noticed we didn't have the peri salt to which I informed a passing staff member who immediately apologised and said he would rectify the situation, went and got the shaker and gave us a generous dousing all over the chips including the ones we had already put on our plates. No hassle, no checking the receipt, no passing the buck and best of all no being stingy, this is how I like my problems rectified.
They checked on us our food was ok and cleared the plates when we finished all with a smile. We were tempted by the deserts but were both stuffed so waddled away happily.
The store has some impressive large pieces of artwork and was well kept, The sauce and beverage section was well placed next to the tills and was clean. The toilets are a bit of a trek and in the cellars complete with arched ceilings.
Can recommend this friendly store as whilst the chicken could be cooked a little less everything else was brill.
