Comments - Stand out in our monthly competition! What did you eat? Unique aspects? Parking/transport tips?:

This Nando's is located on the Abbey Wood retail park, which is anchored by a large Asda. There are some other shops too, like Matalan, Next and Pets at Home and a couple of other eateries (such as McDonalds). It does mean there are hundreds of free parking spaces and Filton Abbey Wood train station is just a few minutes walk away too.

Arrived here about 7:15pm and it was about half full - which soon after being seated turned into completely full with queues going out the door! It did mean that staff did just as expected of them.

The first thing that strikes you about this Nando's, is how (at least at night time) it's brightly lit from outside - like a shining peri-beacon. Outside there are six or so tables with big chunky seats and potted trees. Inside the decor is also nice - there are a couple of separating walls (one right by the entrance) which are big green lattice/stringy effects and the ceiling is also this criss-cross effect in wood. The back wall is panelled in a zig-zag wooden effect too. Plenty of large canvas paintings on the walls and the lighting is made of large cylindrical wicker shades. The only disappointing thing is the seating is all a bit tight inside. Mainly tables/chairs/bench seating, but the tables are cramped in against one another. When being shown to my table the host even said "sorry it's so tight"... and I really hope he was talking about the seating... Toilets were spotless and decorated in bright orange/silver.

The food came in just under 15 minutes and was a bit disappointing. Maybe a third of the rice was odd. It was either straight out the bag (so had never even seen water or the microwave) or was somehow burnt... either way it was hard and chewy. The chips, although a generous portion, were a bit scabby. I love going to to the chippy and asking for a few of the chip-ends, the crunchy battered bits... but not in Nando's - and about half my portion were these chip-ends. The chicken was also below par... A bit on the lean side - but cooked well enough... but not much sauce on it... and you could have been mistaken for thinking you'd been served two wings...
